The Government of Saskatchewan is strengthening the foundation of a unique research partnership that will support energy and mineral research and help make Saskatchewan a global leader in clean energy. To date, the province has committed $780,000 to help establish and support the operations of the Global Institute for Energy, Minerals and Society (GIEMS).

The Global Institute for Energy, Minerals, and Society (GIEMS) was proud to participate in the UPLift 2025 Conference, a leading forum dedicated to advancing innovation and collaboration across Saskatchewan’s energy and minerals sector.

Today, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance collaboration and partnership in mining and energy. The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration on a new Saskatchewan-based institution called the Global Institute for Energy, Mines and Society (GIEMS).
